Grand Theft Auto IV Breaks The Record
A new game from Take-Two Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) the fourth series which is just released a week ago has gained a good achievement. It has just been one week since its first launch; GTA IV has already sold 6 million copies with sales income of US$500million.
That number is so amazing because other than breaking the record in game sales, GTA IV also beat the blockbuster Hollywood income. Pirates at the Caribbean: At world’s End, for example, only able to score US$ 406million for 6 days since its first launch.
In addition other phenomenon game that are also so popular, ‘Halo 3’ also cannot beat GTA IV, Halo 3 itself can only make sales of US$ 300million in a week since launched.
“The sales performance of Grand Theft Auto 4 in the first week has shown the biggest achievement ever in the interactive entertainment world history,’ said Take-Two Rockstar Games leader, Strauss Zelnick, as taken from Reuters.
GTA IV series itself tells a story of an immigrant from Eastern Europe who works for a mafia group. In his job, this immigrant is very related to brutal violence.
This game which fueled with lots of violence, makes GTA IV quite controversial since it is very disturbing to the parents. Even though controversial, gamers still love GTA IV, proven by its fantastic sales record.
