Nokia Ready To Launch Linux Based Cellphone

Nokia has been working with Linux a couple of times already, such as its tablet internet gadget which has been using Linux OS since 2005.

Not only on tablet internet gadget, Nokia is already seeking out Linux to be its operating system for Nokia’s cellphones soon. Nokia interest in Linux has been shown from last year by joining Linux Foundation in last April 2007 and the availibility of Nokia’s products which are Linux based.

Until now, Nokia smartphones are dominated with Symbian operating system, which is proprietary operating system. However, in an Investor Conference, Rick Simonson, Financial Chief Officer of Nokia also said about the imporance of Linux for the company. In the same occasion, Simonson also said that there will be Nokia gadgets with Linux OS soon.
