Forbes together with NPD, a company that watches the video games market and gives monthly reports regarding the sales data, came with a list of top ten bestselling video games for North America market.In order to decide the most popular video games, they didn’t differentiate by the platforms, Games that are released in some platforms, counted as one. For example, variety games for Xbox 360 console mixed with the sales for PC version.

The followings are the top ten bestselling video games, Forbes version :

1. Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas (Rockstar Games-PS2, Xbox-2004).
   A controversial game that is full with violence are popular amongst gamers. And sold more than 9.4million copies.
2. Guitar Hero 3 (Activision – PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360-2007), sold for 8.2 copies.
3. Madden NFL 07 (EA Sports – PlayStation3, Xbox, Xbox 369, GameCube, Wii – 2006), sold 7.7 million copies.
4. Grand Theft Auto :Vice City (Rockstar Games – PlayStation 2, Xbox-2002), sold 7.3 copies.
5. Madden NFL 06 (EA Sports - PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube-3005) sold for 6.7 million copies.
6. Halo 2 (Microsoft Game Studios – Xbox – 2004), sold for 6.61 million copies.
7. Madden NFL 08 (EA Sports – PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 460, GameCube, Wii – 2007), sold 6.6 million copies.
8. Call of Duty 4 (Activision – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 – 2007), sold 6.25million copies.
9. Grand Theft Auto 3 (Rockstar Games – PlayStation 2, Xbox – 2001), sold for 6.2 million copies.
10. Madden NFL 2005 (EA Sports – PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube – 2004), sold 6.1 million copies.
