Windows 7 Will Support Touch Screen

May 27th, 2008 Posted in Story, Windows

Similar to Apple’s iPhone, Microsoft will add touch screen technology in Windows 7 (read: seven), the latest operating system from Microsoft which is also the successor of Windows Vista.

This technology was announced by Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer in ‘All Things Digital’ conference. The multi-touch technology feature then demonstrated by Microsoft Corporate VP, Julie Larson-Green using a Dell Latitude XT laptop. In her demo, Larson-Green drew a picture by using only couple of her fingers together to show that this technology is not only able to process a ‘touch’, but also several input simultanously.

She also demonstrate how she can zoom in and out a photo by moving her fingers. I saw this kind of technology in some movies already. Minority report is one of them as I recall. Windows 7 will be available in two version, 32bit and 64bit. Microsoft did not announce when Windows 7 will be launched, but perhaps at the end of 2009 or early 2010
